Dale Earnhardt's widow, Teresa, plans to turn her North Carolina farm into an industrial park

Dale Earnhardt's widow, Teresa Earnhardt, plans to convert 399 acres of her property into an industrial park, according to a rezoning application. What was once a sprawling farm is now a rural estate in Mooresville, North Carolina.

Joe Marusak from The News & Observer reported the change. The new industrial park will be named Moorseville Technology Park. It is located on NC 3, Dale Earnhardt Highway.

Marusak's report states that the newly zoned property is 2.5 miles from Dale Earnhardt Inc., where the NASCAR icon operated his own racing team for many years.

At an upcoming Mooresville Planning Board meeting, Teresa Earnhardt is expected to formally request the change. That meeting is scheduled for October 22, with their request listed on the meeting agenda.

Currently, the 399 acres are owned by Earnhardt Farms LLC, with Teresa serving as the sole managing member. Earnhardt must submit the application to the planning board, which will then make a recommendation to the Board of Commissioners before anything is finalized.

Many NASCAR fans have heard stories about Dale Earnhardt hunting, fishing and farming on his vast property. Always a lover of nature, this was a deep part of his identity on and off the track. Therefore, this news could come as a surprise.

However, times are constantly changing.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. talks about concussions

In both NASCAR and the NFL, concussions are an unfortunate reality. Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Luke Kuechly can both comment on this. So these are two former athletes who have a little insight into the situation Tua Tagovailoa is currently in.

Over the past two seasons, Tagovailoa has taken hard hits on the field several times. Hits that made him stiff on the field. Sometimes they exhibit some of the worst symptoms of a concussion injury.

It's a topic that requires nuance.

“I hesitate to even comment on Tua’s situation because it’s not my situation,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. said in his commentary Download Dale Jr Podcast.

So Dale Earnhardt Jr. doesn't take this issue lightly. However, as fans, it is sometimes easy to forget how dangerous the sport of football really is. The same goes for NASCAR.

“People like me, who are fans watching from the sidelines, often forget how protected the players are,” Dale Jr. continued. “Nobody in his world, not the Miami Dolphins or the NFL, wants him to risk unnecessary injury.”
