Jets OLB Haason Reddick is reportedly ending his wait and agreeing to a short-term contract

It appears that Haason Reddick has finally ended his reluctance. According to multiple reports, the dynamic edge rusher and the New York Jets have agreed to terms on a revised “short-term” contract. No details of this deal have been released.

Reddick will report on Monday and he and his agents will continue to work toward a multi-year deal with the Jets.

“We will continue to work toward a long-term contract extension with the Jets,” Reddick’s new agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Reddick, 30, will be in his eighth NFL season once he finally appears in a game with the Jets. Reddick was drafted in the first round by the Arizona Cardinals in 2017, but his real breakthrough came with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022. He played in every game and finished the season with a career-high 16 sacks, 49 combined tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 26 QB hits. He was named to the Pro Bowl, the AP named him second-team All-Pro and he finished fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Reddick had been vocal about his desire for a contract restructuring since before the Eagles traded him in March, and that didn't stop when the trade fell through. Just a few months later, the smell of trouble began to emanate from this transaction, as Reddick failed to show up for OTAs in May and failed to show up for mandatory minicamp in June. When training camp began the following month, Reddick was nowhere to be found.

And that's how it was until recently. Reddick's agency, CAA, fired him on Oct. 10, leaving him without representation. A few days later, he hired Rosenhaus with the intention of negotiating a deal to return to the Jets.

And on Monday he will return. That's easier said than done since Reddick has spent almost all of his time with the Jets waiting for a better contract, but the Jets need help on the field. If Reddick can actually help them, it will be like this never happened.
