The Miami Dolphins were condemned by turnovers and penalties in their 16:10 defeat against the Indianapolis Colts

The same story happened on Sunday for the Miami Dolphins in their 16-10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

There were too many ball losses, too many penalties and simply too many mistakes.

“You have to keep solving problems,” Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said after the game. “Sometimes you think you’ve solved the problem and then you realize you haven’t.”

It didn't help that the Dolphins had to make an in-game quarterback change like Tyler for the third time this season “snoop“ Huntley was sidelined in the third quarter with a shoulder injury. With the game on the line, backup quarterback Tim Boyle failed to lead the Dolphins into the end zone.

Miami had a chance to win the game, but Boyle and the offense couldn't get the job done. He had to drive the Dolphins 70 yards downfield in 1:51 for the winning touchdown, but they turned it over on downs.

“You have to go in, not miss a moment and approach the offense like nothing happened,” Boyle said. “At the end of the game we all have to be better, players, coaches and everyone.”

Miami blew an early 10-0 lead after the Colts converted two fumbles into points. The first came when Raheem Mostert, who is usually very reliable with the football, had the ball taken away by Segun Olubi and fumbled as a result. Olubi then walked to the Dolphins' 28-yard line.

Indianapolis then turned it into seven points when Tyler Goodson ran 7 yards for the touchdown that tied the game at 10-10 after the extra point.

“They were tough. Raheem has had over 400 carries since he's been here with us and it was his fourth fumble,” McDaniel said. “The timing was difficult.”

Fullback Alec Ingold also fumbled the ball on a first-and-10 from the Indy 15-yard line in the third quarter, costing the Dolphins at least three points.

“Alec is a captain, one of the best players and a playmaker for us,” McDaniel said. “It was unfortunate in that situation because I felt like there was an opportunity there. It’s a game of responsibility, but at the same time they know they can’t do that.”

Penalties were also a problem for Miami. After Mostert completed a 32-yard run in the first half, the ball was recalled and a holding penalty was assessed against tight end Durham Smythe. After another pre-snap penalty when Jonnu Smith was offside, Liam Eichenberg was charged with a face mask.

“Together as a team we need to play smarter football; That’s crazy,” McDaniel said. “It starts with me. Things happen. The bigger thing is that I'm very frustrated because I think that certain things have been fixed and that's not the case. It’s not anyone’s fault but mine.”
