LeBron James calls out “lame” Browns fans who booed Deshaun Watson after injury

LeBron James calls out “lame” Browns fans who booed Deshaun Watson after injury

LeBron James was unhappy with Cleveland Browns fans for booing quarterback Deshaun Watson after he was injured in Sunday's game.

Watson ran with the ball after taking the snap, dropping in pain on his first step. When Watson remained on the field, he was booed by the Browns supporters, much to the dismay of James.

“Cleveland fans! You all know how much we have been through over the years, both good and bad and indifferent. Besides, it's LAME AF to boo anyone who's down because of an injury, let alone your own player!! Who hasn’t done this (greeting emoji),” James posted on X.

An MRI on Monday confirmed that Watson tore his Achilles tendon during the game and that he will miss the rest of the season, according to multiple reports.

James wasn't the only one to express his displeasure at the boos, as Browns players Myles Garrett and Jameis Winston Watson also defended.

James knows Cleveland sports fans well, having spent 11 seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers and having two different stints with the team. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar grew up in Akron, Ohio, and supported the Browns.

Second-year quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson came in for Watson, with Winston serving as the emergency quarterback in the Browns' 21-14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Watson is in his third season with the Browns after signing a fully guaranteed, five-year, $230 million contract ahead of the 2022 season. In those three seasons, Watson played a total of 19 games for the Browns and was involved in off-field controversies.

Watson was suspended for 11 games two seasons ago after more than two dozen women accused him of sexual assault and inappropriate behavior during scheduled massage sessions.

In September, Watson received another sexual assault and assault complaint in Houston.

On the field, Watson has struggled this season. The former Clemson quarterback completed 63.4% of his passes for 1,148 yards and threw five touchdowns and three interceptions in seven starts. The Browns are 1-6 this season.

The Browns hope to finish their season without Watson when they face the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8.
