Lynx's “Napheesa Collier” subtly points out controversial Game 5 calls in an Instagram post

The Minnesota Lynx lost in heartbreaking overtime to the New York Liberty in Game 5 of the WNBA Finals.

Lynx star Napheesa Collier posted a slew of Instagram photos commemorating the team's Finals run, but she also made sure to subtly distance some of the controversial calls for Game 5 in the post.

The first 13 of the 16 photos on the Instagram slide tended to show the happier moments of the season, but the last three photos highlighted those controversial calls. The last image showed her teammate Alanna Smith's foul on Breanna Stewart in the final seconds of regulation time. Minnesota challenged the foul, but it was upheld and Stewart knocked down free throws to send the game into overtime.

Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve later called out the referees, arguing that the game had been “stolen” from them. It's safe to assume Collier felt the same way when she posted a picture of the foul.

“A heartbreaking end to an incredible season,” Collier wrote. “I enjoyed every minute being around this team. I love you, you made this year an incredible experience. A big thank you to our coaches and staff, you are so amazing. And thank you to all the fans who supported us. We’ll be back this season.”

Many fans, including NBA star LeBron James, agreed that there was no foul.

The first controversial call photo Collier posted was a no-call from Kayla Thornton, which appeared to hit Collier in the face as she drove to the hoop. The next photo shows another controversial call from Smith to Jonquel Jones.
