Harvey Weinstein was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer

Harvey Weinstein was diagnosed with cancer. According to NBC News, the disgraced film producer suffers from chronic myeloid leukemia, a form of bone marrow cancer.

“Craig Rothfeld, Mr. Weinstein's authorized health representative in New York State, expresses his deep dismay at the speculation surrounding Mr. Weinstein's health,” Weinstein spokeswoman Juda Engelmayer said in a statement diversity. “It is both worrying and unacceptable that such private and confidential health matters have become the subject of public discussion. Out of respect for Mr. Weinstein’s privacy, we will have no further comment.”

The former film producer last appeared in a Manhattan court in September, his first time since heart surgery. He was wheeled in in a wheelchair by court security guards and pleaded not guilty to the additional sex act charge he had been charged with a week earlier in New York.

His lawyer Arthur Aidala claimed the disgraced film producer “almost died” after undergoing emergency heart surgery. Weinstein had already been hospitalized over the summer for other problems, including diabetes, and contracted Covid-19 and double pneumonia while in the hospital.

In April, the New York Court of Appeals overturned Weinstein's 2020 rape conviction. The appeals court ruled that Weinstein's original trial was flawed by allowing three other accusers to testify about their own assault allegations when they should not have been allowed to do so. Their statements were biased against Weinstein and did not shed light on the charges he faced; The appeal court overturned the conviction and ordered a retrial. The new trial was tentatively scheduled for November, but an earlier date in 2025 is now being considered.

After becoming one of the most widely accused figures in the #MeToo movement, Weinstein continued to deny assaulting or raping anyone.

NBC was first to report Weinstein's diagnosis.
