Joe Flacco is older than Colts coach Shane Steichen

Shane Steichen is the authority in the Indianapolis Colts locker room, but he has no seniority.

Quarterback Joe Flacco cut it by almost 4 months. Flacco will turn 40 on January 16, 2025 and Steichen will reach that milestone on May 11.

Flacco, Indy's backup quarterback, joined the “ManningCast” Monday night and talked about the challenges of being older than the head coach.

“I try to let it come naturally,” Flacco said, adding that he doesn’t see a problem with Steichen. “I still see myself as a player and she as a coach, no matter how big the age difference is. I think it can be more difficult for the younger coach.”

Flacco said he felt his age in Week 6 when he had a 21-yard run, his longest in seven seasons.

“After that I could barely assert myself in the huddle,” he said.

Flacco appeared on the show during the Baltimore Ravens' game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Flacco played 11 seasons for the Ravens and was named Super Bowl MVP after the 2012 season. But this year he doesn't love her.

“I literally wish all the other 31 teams could somehow lose,” he said. “I don’t root for any other quarterback. I don’t cheer for any other team.”

As for the Colts, Flacco believes the best is yet to come.

“We each played a good side of football and got the job done,” he said.
