Longoni praises Milan's “character and courage”: “Team comes before the individual”

It wasn't easy, but AC Milan got all three points against Udinese, showing “character and courage”. As Andrea Longoni pointed out, the game could potentially be a reference for the rest of the season.

Milan opened the scoring early on through Samuel Chukwueze, who found the bottom left corner, and continued to play well after that. But in the 29th minute Tijjani Reijnders was sent off and everything changed. It was A red card that caused great debatebut the Rossoneri just had to keep going.

In his editorial for MilanNews, pundit and journalist Andrea Longoni spoke about the victory and why it was so important for Milan. Although the Rossoneri had to do without some stars and only had ten players, they showed courage.

“A very important victory, a victory of the heart, a victory fought for until the last second: all the more important.” Milan showed character and courage, just like Fonseca in choosing his line-ups.

“In the event of a negative performance, he would have risked paying dearly: instead he won and, above all, got players who showed the desire to sacrifice themselves and play together with their teammates, not as soloists.”

“Without looking anyone in the face and without the support of management: Ibrahimovic's absence from Milanello during the entire break is simply indescribable.

“During the course of a season there are games that mark changes: who knows, maybe yesterday's game could become a reference for the mood in the locker room. Milan and Fonseca desperately need it. The team before the individual. Everyone is warned, including Leao.

“There is life without the Portuguese winger, who now has to adapt to the compactness, commitment and professionalism of his teammates, otherwise he will be out again.”

“Okafor, although he remained on the pitch, was really valuable: the very inspired Swiss was decisive in the goal and a great protagonist of the first 30 minutes with equal numbers in which we also saw a good game.”

“Among the scattered notes we finally found a decisive Chukwueze, the usual incredible Pulisic and a huge Fofana in the middle of the field,” he wrote.

Next up for Milan is Club Brugge and it is likely that Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao will start again from the first minute. What is clear, however, is that the Rossoneri have depth and that will be crucial going forward.
