The No. 8 Oregon Ducks beat the UCLA Bruins (1-2) in Week 5 of the 2024 college football season. The 3-0 Ducks hope to remain undefeated in a late-night Big Ten Conference matchup in the Rose Bowl.

The current UCLA team features five former Ducks, including defensive back Bryan Addison. Addison grabbed attention with two big plays against Oregon.

Oregon Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel had a heated exchange with Addison after Addison made a big hit on Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson. Ferguson went to the locker room with an injury. Addison then intercepted Gabriel and returned the pick for a 96-yard touchdown.

Late in the second quarter, Addison intercepted Gabriel and sprinted for a 96-yard touchdown to cut Oregon's lead to 28-10. It was Gabriel's first interception as a Duck.

How can Oregon regain momentum in the second half?

“Keep playing our game,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning told the Fox broadcast at halftime. “We were able to consistently stop them. After that first series we settled in defensively. We have to protect the ball on offense.”

“It was really a good decision until the last decision,” Coach Lanning said. “This is over and we need to move on to the next one.”

Gabriel had a heated exchange with Addison early in the second quarter.

Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson took a hard hit from Addison. It took Ferguson some time to get up. Ferguson left the pitch under his own power but had to go to the dressing room before half-time for further assessment.

Ferguson's quarterback and best friend Gabriel had some good words for Addison after the hit.

Earlier this week, the senior Ferguson spoke about the play of some of his former teammates.

“I think it’s really cool to see these guys again,” Ferguson said. “I stay in touch with a lot of them. We are very close as a class. Especially Mo (Moliki Matavao) is still one of my best friends.”

Addison Ferguson particularly impressed.

“It’s the same thing we saw,” Ferguson said of Addison. “He is a good player. He flies around, he plays hard and he's long, so he's someone who can cause a lot of problems. That's the same thing I've seen since he trained here and was here, only he's a good player.”

According to the FOX broadcast, Ferguson suffered a head injury and will not return for the game against UCLA.

Ferguson chose to return to Oregon for his final season rather than declare his name in the 2024 NFL Draft. In 2023, Ferguson finished with 414 receiving yards and six touchdowns, tied for sixth-most among all FBS tight ends. Five of Ferguson's six touchdowns came in the last six games, including two touchdowns in the Pac-12 Championship Game.
