Wayne Brady talks about parenting challenges with a 20 year age difference between children

Wayne Brady revealed the biggest difference he faces while raising two children with a nearly 20-year age difference.

In a recent chat with People magazine At the Bring Change to Mind Revels & Revelations event in California, the 52-year-old actor spoke about the big difference he experienced raising his son Val and 21-year-old daughter Maile.

“It’s a different level of energy in parenting. “I got Maile when I was 30, and now with Val, as far as the physical energy it takes to walk around with him, I can still do it (but) it's a little harder,” he told the outlet .

It's pertinent to mention that Brady shares Maile with his ex-wife Mandie Taketa and his son Val with his ex-girlfriend Tina, whom he dated on and off during the pandemic.

“I think that with Val I benefit from having been there once, now I've been to the rodeo, so I think I'm a little better as a parent,” Brady noted, mentioning that his daughter has also noticed his better education.

For those unfamiliar, Brady is also co-parent to Taketa and her partner Sundance-Isamu's adopted son “Sunny.”

The father of two continued: “Maīle even laughs, she says. 'The funny thing about Sunny and Mandie and Val and me is that you two are not the parents I grew up with. Val and Sunny get these parents.' I've done therapy and worked on myself and they know about parenting. I grew up with you two and we all grew up together.'”

“So that’s the biggest difference: I did a little more parenting,” Brady added.
