NBA fans make predictions for Pistons star Cade Cunningham in 2025

After a strong 2024 season, Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham is a player frequently mentioned as a possible breakout candidate this season. Before the former No. 1 pick begins his fourth year in the league, fans made their predictions about what his performance might look like.

The Pistons cemented Cunningham as their long-term cornerstone and signed him to a maximum five-year extension of his rookie contract. This came shortly after he put up the best numbers of his young career. Despite barely playing in 2023, Cunningham finished last season with averages of 22.7 PPG, 4.3 RPG and 7.5 APG.

When thinking about what Cunningham's numbers will look like this year, many fans indicated that he will receive his first All-Star nomination. Some went completely overboard by saying he would take home Finals MVP.

Based on his preseason play, Cunningham appears poised to remain on the path to stardom. In five preseason games, he averaged 13.0 PPG, 4.8 RPG and 6.4 APG on 50/23/80 shooting splits. His best single game came against the Phoenix Suns, where he nearly recorded a triple-double. In 31 minutes of play, Cunningham scored 25 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists in a win.

It goes without saying how important it is for the Pistons to continue to fulfill Cunningham's potential. His emergence as a star guard is their quickest path to promotion in the Eastern Conference. After bringing in numerous complementary players this offseason, Cunningham has the talent necessary to fully utilize his talents on the basketball court.
