Scotland's men return to ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 (CWCL2) on Friday evening when they take on the USA in Dallas.

This game kicks off an important two weeks for the Scots, who will compete in four One Day Internationals against their hosts and Nepal and look to build on a successful, unbeaten CWCL2 home run earlier this year.

Scotland were impressive against Namibia and Oman in Forfarshire in July, only rain preventing a clean sweep of four wins.

Doug Watson's side sit fifth in the CWCL2 points table with the top four qualifying for the 2027 Men's Cricket World Cup, but along with the United Arab Emirates have played the fewest number of games and a successful trip to Dallas would cement Scotland's position in the overall standings – an important top four.

Looking ahead to the series, Scotland men's head coach Doug Watson said: “It's great to have the boys together again and it's nice to see some new faces in the squad.”

Andy (Umeed) fought great yesterday (against USA A) and it was really a fantastic shot. I was pretty sad to take him out of the game at 100, but we felt like it was best to bring our other batters in and get a hit, and it was really nice to see them get one in the middle got a break. They all look good, which is a really positive thing.

“It's been a really good week of preparation so far and like I said, it's great to have everyone together, working hard in the sun and outside and I think we've done a really good job here so far.”

This is the first time Scotland will face both Nepal and the USA in this CWCL2 cycle, but for Watson the focus is on ensuring his side plays their best cricket.

“We know what an important series this is in terms of results. So it's important that we focus on doing the basics really well and making sure we nail them.

“Both Nepal and USA are really good teams and they have some outstanding players, but I think our guys are pretty focused on ourselves and doing what we do well and they're all excited to be back out there and are looking forward to representing Scotland again.”

Watch Scotland take on the USA live on ICC.TV from 4:30pm BST on Friday 25 October.
