New York institutions offer free and discounted awards to marathon runners

This year, all New York marathon runners will receive a medal as well as a prize. The New York Road Runners The organization announced today that marathon participants will be offered free and discounted entry after completing the 26.2-mile hike next Sunday, November 3rd Entry to some of the city's most popular attractions. Museums, historic sites, Broadway shows and more everywhere in the city are included in NYRR's first Beyond the finish line program this year.

“Thousands of runners come every year Millions of viewers “Many people are flocking to New York City for the TCS New York City Marathon,” said Rob Simmelkjaer, CEO of New York Road Runners. “By collaborating with other iconic New York institutions that are synonymous with the city, we will extend the impact of the marathon long after we cross the finish line in Central Park.”

Most of the action takes place on Monday, November 4th, after the marathon runners have rested. If they didn't catch it The Lion King or Aladdin still on Broadway, The New York Road Runners host screenings with discounted tickets followed by a panel discussion. All runners also leave the stages with a special souvenir gift!

After completing two dozen miles through five counties, many marathon runners may not want to get up for a few days. But if you feel like celebrating their achievement, some of the city's biggest art museums are offering discounts on November 4th.

By showing a medal when purchasing tickets, marathon finishers can expect discounted tickets to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art. All three museums offer finishers and their supporters early access to the museum while the Met hosts a breakfast celebration.

“We encourage everyone to do marathons “We invite participants and their families to run with one of the amazing arts groups New York Road Runners has partnered with on this exciting initiative,” said New York City Commissioner of Cultural Affairs Laurie Cumbo.

Those who complete the race can also look forward to discounts at One World Observatory, the Jackie Robinson Museum and SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, among others. The full list of rewards can be found here here on the New York Road Runners website.
