Epic Charter Schools announces salary adjustments and layoffs amid financial challenges

Epic Charter Schools (ECS) is currently undergoing a school-wide restructuring that includes layoffs, base salaries and salary adjustments.

In an email to employees Friday morning, Epic Charter Schools said it is facing financial challenges due to declining student enrollment.

ECS reported enrollment was 30,042 as of Monday morning.

The email sent Friday said the HR team will reach out to employees involved in job adjustments to explain the offboarding process and answer questions.

“We are committed to continually improving our processes and hope to continue the success and momentum we have experienced over the past year,” Epic Charter Schools said in the email.

Another email was sent to teachers Monday morning regarding school operating costs.

The email states: “As of November 1, 2024, the minimum salary for teachers will be adjusted from $60,000 to $50,000 per year.”

According to the email, the change only affects teachers who have weighted schedules under 28 students.

ECS said an amended contract will be sent to teachers affected by the change.

In the email, ECS said the teachers would not be able to continue their employment if the amended contract was not accepted.
