Game overview

Week 8 concludes on Monday night with a non-conference clash between one of the hottest teams in the AFC and one of the coldest teams in the NFC.

The Pittsburgh Steelers Come into this game with the momentum of two dominant wins and a 5-2 record against the spread. Their recent performances have given them the third-highest against-the-spread margin in the NFL (+7.6) and they have struck out three overs in their last four games.

Pittsburgh's success relied largely on a strong ground game on both sides of the ball. In October, the Steelers offense ranked 11th in EPA per game and third in EPA per rush. Najee Harris has led the way by posting the NFL's highest rushing grade (90.5) and leading the league in yards after contact (206) during that span.

The Giants have been far less consistent in the betting market, dropping their last two games against the spread after holding cover for three weeks. New York has been an underdog in every game this season, largely due to their offensive woes, which also resulted in only one game in total reaching the over.

The Giants' passing attack has reached problematic lows over the last three games. Daniel Jones has posted a PFF passing percentage of 59.2, the lowest of any quarterback with 100 or more dropbacks in that span, along with an explosive last-five passing percentage of 8.0%.

New York has relied heavily on its pass rush, which has produced 18 sacks, a 36.7 percent pass-rush productivity rate (2nd) and 62 total pressures (4th) in the league over the last three games. However, their coverage unit struggled, posting the NFL's highest completion rate (81.4%) and the fifth-highest open targets rate (62.9%).

RB Devin Singletary, New York Giants: Under 30.5 rushing yards (-111, 3.3% PFF betting model advantage)

After returning to the lineup after missing two games with a groin injury, Devin Singletary seemed to have been usurped by the first-rounder on the depth chart Tyrone Tracywho defeated the veteran 37:12.

The Giants' running game struggled to generate movement up front, ranking 29th in yards before contact per attempt (1.0), resulting in limited production in the backfield. As a result, Singletary has exceeded his yardage limit in just two of five games this season, most recently in Week 3, while averaging just 3.9 yards per carry, with over 80% of those yardage coming after contact.

That inefficiency spells trouble against a Pittsburgh defense that stood firm against the run. In their last three games, they posted the second-highest team grade against the run (83.8), fueled by three forced fumbles (the most in the NFL) and an average tackle depth of 3.23. Singletary, who has already fumbled twice this season, could be at risk against such a disruptive unit.

Just last week, Pittsburgh held the Jets RB Breece Hall on 38 yards on 12 carries, allowing just 0.2 yards before contact per attempt and recording a run stuff rate of 41.7%.

WR Malik Nabers, New York Giants: Over 0.5 rushing yards (+270, 34.3% PFF betting model advantage)

The loss of Andrew Thomas for the year has put this offensive line in a tough situation, especially in pass protection.

Just last week, they gave up seven sacks to Philadelphia – a worrying sign given Pittsburgh's prodigious pass rush. Led by TJ WattsIn 2024, the Steelers posted the NFL's highest team pass rushing grade at 86.9.

Given recent struggles in the passing game, including zero passing touchdowns in the last two games, the Giants may be looking for creative ways to get their top playmaker involved. Although Nabers hasn't seen much action in the run game this season with just three runs scored, New York will have to find ways to get the ball in his hands if they want to compete in this matchup.
