UPDATE #2 |According to multiple sources, the 17-year-old victim of a recent accident in Altoona has been identified as Lundyn Treese, a junior and soccer player at Altoona Area High School.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Treese's family and has nearly reached its $20,000 goal this evening.

A makeshift memorial with flowers, pictures, letters, balloons and candles was erected at the base of a tree at the crash site.

School officials announced that the Altoona girls soccer game against Allderdice, originally scheduled for Monday night, has been rescheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Mansion Park in Altoona. According to social media posts, there will be a memorial service for Treese at the game.

Additionally, a vigil will be held Wednesday at Providence Presbyterian Church on Broad Street in Altoona.

The school district said additional counseling and grief services will be available for students and staff Monday.

UPDATE | An Altoona Area High School student who was a member of the girls' soccer team was identified as the victim in a fatal car accident over the weekend, the school district tells 6News.

The AASD confirmed the victim was one of its students, but did not say who the victim was. According to multiple sources, the victim is 17-year-old Lundyn Treese.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time,” Paula Foreman, director of community relations for the Altoona Area School District, said in a statement.

Foreman said the school is offering additional counseling and grief services Monday at school for any students or staff who may need assistance. School officials ask people to show respect for the victim's family during this time.

School officials add that there is an upcoming candlelight vigil that is not affiliated with the school district. They say the vigil will be held on Wednesday, October 30th from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Providence Presbyterian Church at 2401 Broad Avenue in Altoona.

The Altoona Police Department and Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a fatal car accident that occurred early Sunday morning.

While limited details are available at this time, Altoona police said in a Facebook post that the accident involved a vehicle and occurred around 4 a.m. in the area of ​​10th Avenue and 9th Street.

Blair County Coroner Ray Benton said in a news release that one person died as a result of the accident.

The total number of occupants in the vehicle at the time of the accident is currently unknown.
