Arnold Schwarzenegger says he would vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz

Arnold Schwarzenegger wrote on X today that he voted for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz and said he “will always be an American before I am a Republican.”

The former GOP governor of California wrote: “Let me be honest with you: I don’t like any party right now. My Republicans have forgotten the beauty of the free market, running up deficits and rejecting election results. Democrats are no better at managing deficits, and I worry that their local policies could harm our cities through increased crime.

“It's probably no surprise that I hate politics more than ever, which if you're a normal person who isn't addicted to this crap you'll probably understand. I want to switch off.

“But I can’t. Because rejecting the election results is as un-American as it gets. For someone like me, who talks to people all over the world and still knows that America is the shining city on a hill, calling America a trash can for the world is so unpatriotic that it makes me angry. And I will always be an American before I become a Republican. That’s why I’m voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz this week.”

Schwarzenegger said he made his support for Harris public because “I also understand that people want to hear from me because I'm not just a celebrity, but I'm a former Republican governor.”

Schwarzenegger governed largely moderately during his term from 2003 to 2011 and at times clashed with the state Republican Party.

Although both benefited from their celebrity status in their political careers, the relationship between Trump and Schwarzenegger was chilly, to say the least. After Trump's election in 2016, Schwarzenegger became host The apprentice for one season, but told the network he would not be returning due to the “baggage” associated with the show. Trump, who was president at the time, then fired Schwarzenegger because of “poor (pathetic) reviews.”

After the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, Schwarzenegger released a video message in which he said that Trump would “go down in history as the worst president ever” and that he was trying to engineer a coup “by killing people in… that leads astray.” Lie.”

Schwarzenegger wrote: “A candidate who doesn't respect your vote unless it's for him, a candidate who sends his supporters to storm the Capitol while he watches with a Diet Coke, a candidate who doesn't “Except for a tax cut that helped his donors and other rich people like me, but no one else, a candidate who thinks that Americans who disagree with him, the are bigger enemies than China, Russia or North Korea – that will not solve our politics' problems.

“It will just be four more years of bullshit with no results, making us increasingly angry, divided and hateful. We must close the door on this chapter of American history, and I know former President Trump will not do that. He will divide, he will offend, he will find new ways to be even more un-American than he already was, and we the people will get nothing but more anger.”
