Suspect in New York City artist murder found dead at Hamptons resort

The elderly man suspected of murdering a 33-year-old New York artist at a swank Hamptons spa was found dead in an apparent suicide, police said Wednesday.

Thomas Gannon, 56, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

Police said Gannon and Sabina Rosas, an artist originally from Tajikistan, had a “domestic” relationship but did not provide further details.

It's unclear what the two were doing at the $1,000-a-night spa where Rosas' body was found by an employee on Monday, sending shockwaves through Water Mill, an upscale hamlet in the Long Island town of Southampton.

Rosas' family described her in a statement as a “beloved daughter, sister, fiancé and friend,” and sources said she was engaged to another man.

Gannon, a father of one, was the owner of Majestic Tile, Granite and Flooring in Honesdale, according to records.

The home where he was found is for sale for $550,000, the online listing shows.

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home sits on an elevated terrace with large windows that offer stunning views of the surrounding forests.

Although the details of Rosas' death were not immediately clear, it was believed to have been a very bloody, violent scene.

Earlier Wednesday, ABC News reported that law enforcement is searching for a male suspect who checked into the spa with Rosas and was last seen leaving the spa without her on Monday morning.

The brutal murder cast a dark cloud over Water Mill, a quiet, affluent hamlet in the town of Southampton on the South Fork of Long Island.

Of particular note is the $1,000-a-night spa, with a Buddha statue at the end of a gravel driveway.

The picturesque backdrop was still cordoned off with police tape on Tuesday.

“It’s just so out of character for this area and this area in particular,” local resident Jean Wong told The Post.

“It's very ironic because you go to a place like this to relax and feel good. What could have led to a murder?”
