Inter Milan boss praises Argentina's talisman after confident win against Empoli: “A solution, not a problem”

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi highlighted the importance of Lautaro Martinez to his team after a comfortable Serie A victory at Empoli.

During his interview with DAZN after the game, as reported by FCInterNewsthe Nerazzurri boss addressed several crucial topics, including Martinez's bobbing form.

After a disappointing draw against Juventus last weekend, Inter returned to the win column on Wednesday.

Inspired by Davide Frattesi's second-half brace, the defending Serie A champions beat Empoli 3-0 in Tuscany.

Lautaro Martinez landed the final blow in the 79th minute for his fourth league goal of the season.

Inzaghi was understandably pleased with his side's performance against the ten-man Gli Azzurri.

“The boys did great; It wasn’t easy,” he said. “We had seen what Empoli had done at home, only conceding one goal per game.

“We knew we would face challenges and we did. We didn't move the ball fast enough in the first half.

“But I told the Empoli players that they would get tired, especially after their red card. I knew we would find the target.

“This is an excellent victory that we wanted with all our might.”

“We are all happy for Lauti. We know what a goal means to a striker. For us, Lauti will always be a solution and never a problem,” explained Inzaghi.

“Even with a lower scoring average this season, his performances were solid. Strikers have their moments.

“I kept him so he could enjoy this game.

“I’m happy for him, for Davide and for the entire team. We will continue to work hard – after team success comes personal satisfaction.”

Inzaghi gave Tomas Palacios his first appearance in Serie A on the home stretch.

“It is positive for Palacios, a young player who is making a huge effort,” the Inter coach added.

“The team was happy with Palacios' debut because he works very hard and well.

“He is a player who will have a great future; At the moment he has to learn from the more experienced players; there will be contentment.”

As for the subsequent Scudetto race against Napoli, Inzaghi refuses to look that far into the future.

“Well, it's a reaction to ourselves, because in those two and a half days I had mixed feelings inside of me,” he continued.

“When I look back at Sunday’s game, I realized there was something wrong with me. We deserved more, but that's football.

“We should have done more and these days we tried to recover. Resource management is crucial as we play every 2-3 days and have absences.

“We had some very important players at home and that limits us.

“I think of Barella, who was playing his fourth game in a row; Frattesi had played three games before the Derby d'Italia.

“Asllani was ready for a few minutes and we have only played with three midfielders since the Roma game.

“Luckily Zielinski gave us a helping hand.”
