NBA odds, picks and bets for Wednesday

The Knicks, fresh off a disappointing home loss to the Cavaliers, travel to South Beach to take on the Heat on Wednesday night.

Miami has won two straight games against the Hornets and Pistons thanks to solid performances from Tyler Herro and Terry Rozier.

It seems incredible that the Knicks have the second-highest field goal percentage, fourth-highest effective field goal percentage, and third-highest offensive rating in their first three games, but only have a 1-2 record.

But that's what can happen when you face a red-hot Celtics team that has set an NBA record for most 3-pointers made in a game and an undefeated Cavaliers team that is firing on all cylinders.

Despite the two wins, Miami looked far from perfect, especially when it came to rebounding.

In fact, the Heat rank last in the NBA in rebounding percentage and second-chance points and 29th in opponent second-chance points.

Simply put: They were destroyed on the glass by two teams that are unlikely to be playoff-caliber in the East.

Even though the Knicks (who finished first in rebounding percentage in the 2023-24 season) got off to a slow start in this regard and experienced a personnel change in the frontcourt, they are still considered one of the better rebounding teams in the league .

Karl-Anthony Towns ranked 15th in the NBA with 10.7 rebounds per game entering Tuesday. Rebounding will remain an Achilles heel for the Heat in this matchup.

Additionally, Miami had little success offensively in its first three games, making just 43 percent of its field goal attempts.

Betting on the NBA?

It won't be any easier for the Heat on Wednesday evening against a versatile and strong Knicks team that can change almost anything defensively.

Unfortunately for Miami, it won't be able to upset New York with its snail-paced pace like other opponents, as the Knicks love to play slow (30th in pace).

A win in Miami should get the Knicks back on track.
