Dragon Age: The Veilguard delivers decent image quality and great performance on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, complete with ray tracing in Quality mode.

In a new tech review published a few hours ago, Digital Foundry took a close look at the console versions of BioWare's latest entry in the series, confirming details like resolution, visual features and more. On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series 1440p with dynamic resolution that can go down to 504p. Nevertheless, AMD FSR 2.2 seems to do a good job and the image quality is not massively affected even at such a low resolution, although this is definitely noticeable upon closer inspection. At least the performance seems to be solid, consistently hitting the target of 60 FPS.

Things don't look so good on the Xbox Series S. The system runs Dragon Age: The Veilguard at 648p in quality mode and 432p in performance mode, targeting 30 and 60 FPS respectively. Despite some issues, such as a lack of motion blur in Quality mode, which prevents 30FPS gameplay from being smoother, and poorer image quality in Performance mode, Digital Foundry found the experience to be usable on the system.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is released today for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. You can find out more about the game in our review.
