Hellenic American Union celebrates Halloween with screening of “Young Frankenstein”

This Halloween, fans of the horror-comedy genre are heading to a special screening of Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. Hosted by the HAU Movie Club of the Hellenic American Union in collaboration with Mooviereel, the event promises to open the season with laughs and classic scares. Admission is free and Greek subtitles are provided for this cult 1974 film.

Young Frankensteinwritten by Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder, is considered a popular parody of horror cinema. Inspired by Mary Shelley's Gothic Novel Frankenstein and the first three from Universal Pictures Frankenstein The film presents a comedic twist on the story of Dr. Frankenstein's grandson (played by Wilder), who undertakes his own experiment in reviving the dead in Transylvania. The film received two Academy Award nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Sound.

As a festive touch, attendees are encouraged to dress up as classic Universal monsters and add even more atmosphere with streamers during the opening and closing credits.
