Pixel Weather is rolling out to Pixel 6-8a via the Google Play Store

As announced two weeks ago with the October 2024 feature drop, Pixel Weather is now available on Pixel 6 and newer, including the tablet.

Pixel Weather is introduced as a new version of the com.google.android.apps.weather background service that already exists on your device and reports existing city temperatures in Google Clock. Just tap “Update” in the Google Play Store.

After installing version 1.0.20240910.x, you will get a “Weather” icon in the app grid. Here are some things you should do as part of the setup process:

  • Allow app notifications and precise location.
  • Tap your profile avatar in the top right > Pixel Weather Settings to “Make Pixel Weather your primary source of notifications.” You need to turn off the Weather forecast notification in the Google app.
  • To be safe, restart your device so that existing widgets and At a Glance Pixel Weather open rather than the previous Google Weather experience.

When you sign in with your Google account, saved locations sync across devices. To delete a location from the main list, swipe left/right. When you select a city, a local background is displayed that reflects its current state.

Press and hold a card to move a weather block, allowing everything except the hourly forecast (and the AI weather report) to be rearranged. The customizations are unique to each saved city, while on tablets and foldables there is a two-column layout. Available data includes: precipitation, wind, sunrise and sunset, UV index, air quality, visibility, humidity and pressure.

The weather map shows a 6-hour rainfall forecast and is available in the US, UK and most European countries except Italy and Luxembourg. It is powered by Google Nowcasting.

Tap your avatar in the top right to change weather units, theme, and access settings. You can get tomorrow's weather forecast for your current location delivered every evening and set precipitation alerts by city.

With October's Pixel Drop, Google announced a pollen counting block for the UK, Germany, France and Italy.
