Bronx officials host Halloween skate party with Morris Park BID – Bronx Times

Families in Morris Park got out their skates, blades and boards on Friday for a Halloween skate party at Loreto Playground hosted by Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, New York City Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato and the Morris Park Business Improvement District (BID). .

From 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., children in the district and their families ran along the outdoor track accompanied by a live DJ, hoping to grab one of the Halloween gifts later.

Borough President Gibson equipped himself with roller blades and knee pads to exercise and hit the track with Morris Park residents.

“Together, we foster connection to our community and encourage our residents to live healthy, active lifestyles,” Gibson said.

Councilman Marmorato, dressed as a purple butterfly with silver roller skates, spoke about the importance of family and community activities.

“As someone who brings my own daughter to Loreto Playground, I know firsthand how important events and parks are to the families in our community,” Marmorato said. “It means a lot to us to be able to offer this Halloween celebration to our neighbors and create a space where children and parents can have fun, skate and make memories together. And as a roller skater myself, it is a joy to share this experience with the community and my own daughter.”

Go! Sports NYC, a community-based organization that teaches skating sports, including rollerblading and skateboarding, to NYC students, provided skating gear and protective gear to skaters at the event.

“As a Bronx-based organization, Go Sports NYC is proud to continue to partner with the Bronx Borough President’s Office and bring our fun skate events to our wonderful communities and the amazing people of the Bronx,” said Ray Mendez, founder of Go ! Sports NYC.
