Previous takeaways from Key Rockets, Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun

Through four games, Jalen Green is playing like a potential All-Star while Alperen Sengun is lagging. Today's Locked on Rockets looks at Houston's 2-2 start.

Tuesday's Locked on Rockets podcast episode, featuring renowned media members Jackson Gatlin and Ben DuBose as hosts, provides analysis of Houston's first four games of the 2024-25 NBA regular season.

The Rockets are 2-2 despite currently ranking in the top 10 in both offensive and defensive net rating. A big reason is fourth-year shooting guard Jalen Green, who is averaging nearly 29 points per game due to his strong efficiency and strong wing defense.

On the other hand, despite these strengths, the Rockets have still lost two of four games – and both against opponents (Charlotte and San Antonio) that lost at least 60 games last season.

Houston outrebounded by double digits in the second half of those two games, a stunning disparity for a squad that was expected to be one of the NBA's best rebounding teams early in the season.

Another reason for Houston's inconsistency is an uneven start from big man Alperen Sengun, who is shooting just 38.5% overall through four games.

With that in mind, the podcast episode (which can be viewed in full on YouTube above) examines both the pros and cons of Houston's performance so far. The show also takes a look at key storylines for Thursday's game at Dallas (2-1), which begins at 7:30 p.m. Central.

This game in Dallas caps off a three-game road trip for the Rockets in the Western Conference, followed by a three-game home game against Golden State (Saturday, November 2), New York (Monday, November 4) and New York ( Monday, November 4th) will play San Antonio (Wednesday, November 6th).
