New York Jets star WR retires after serious blow

NY Jets wide receiver Davante Adams is in the midst of his best game since joining the team a few weeks ago, but in typical Jets fashion, everything that can go wrong goes wrong.

Adams made his sixth catch of the game late in the third quarter, increasing his total on the day to 54 receiving yards. The six-time Pro Bowler pushed a defender off the line of scrimmage and made a crucial fourth-down catch, only to take a hard hit at the end of the play.

Adams lay on the sideline for a few seconds and was attended to by trainers before running away under his own power. He was later seen walking to the blue medical tent and reported that he was being examined by an independent neurologist.

That seems to indicate that Adams is being evaluated for a concussion, making his return to play questionable. The Jets are already without wide receiver Allen Lazard, who was placed on IR today.

Adams was later seen walking to the locker room after exiting the blue medical tent. The Jets have indicated that Adams is being evaluated in the locker room for a concussion.

The Jets are already thin on the ground at receiver with Lazard playing on injured reserve. With Adams out, the Jets are stuck with Garrett Wilson, Mike Williams,

The Jets traded a conditional third-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for Adams earlier this month. Adams had recorded just seven catches for 84 yards in his two games with the Jets entering Week 9.
