Sheetz opens new store in Metro Detroit: What you should know

FRASER, MI – Sheetz, a popular Mid-Atlantic restaurant and gas station chain, announced plans to open a new store in the Detroit area.

The new store will open on the southwest corner of 14 Mile and Utica streets in Fraser. The announcement comes after Fraser City Council approved the plan.

“We are grateful for the lively and passionate dialogue at last night’s meeting, as well as the opportunity to work with local officials and residents to show we belong in their community,” said Justin Mandel, regional director of real estate for Sheetz. “We look forward to supporting Fraser through creating meaningful jobs, donations to food banks, partnerships with local organizations and more.”

Officials did not say exactly when the Fraser store will open, but the announcement comes as the chain plans to open between 50 and 60 locations in the Detroit area within the next five to six years.

The Pennsylvania-based company recently announced new stores at 31925 Van Dyke in Warren, 19001 E. Nine Mile in Eastpointe and 2103 W. Michigan Ave. to open in Ypsilanti.

Additional stores are expected to open in Chesterfield, Macomb, Warren and two locations in Taylor.

The company has not announced an exact opening date for any of the planned stores.

Michigan's first Sheetz opened in August in Romulus at 33380 Wick Rd.

Sheetz is best known for its award-winning, made-to-order menu, which allows local residents, or “Sheetz Freakz,” to order Sheetz’s customized drinks or food 24 hours a day.

Sheetz operates 669 stores in six states, including Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio and Maryland. All Sheetz locations are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
