Report: NFL 'checks' Nick Bosa's MAGA hat after game

The league ignored the hot potato as long as it could.

After multiple inquiries from multiple media outlets went unanswered (we sent two emails and heard the faint sound of cricket wings in response), the league passed the publication ban recommendation to Mark Maske Washington Post that it is “rEvaluation49ers defensive end Nick Bosa wears a “Make America Great Again” hat on the field after Sunday night’s victory over the Cowboys.

“Make America Great Again,” when you have been completely disconnected from society for the past nine years, is the rallying cry of three-time presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Bosa videobombed the interview NBC's Melissa Stark conducted with 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, tight end George Kittle and running back Isaac Guerendo. Bosa pointed to the hat, which was difficult to read because it had gold letters on white fabric.

According to Maske, Bosa will not face a ban, but he could be fined. Maske adds that a decision is not expected before next week.

Right. After the election. Even though fines are routinely issued in the days following a specific game schedule, the NFL's strategy for minimizing the anger, upset, and/or annoyance of a vocal minority of fans is to (1) say nothing about it at all until the witching hour the bad news; and (2) do nothing until all votes have been cast and counted.

Actually there is nothing to rate. Either it is a violation or it is not. The clear language of the rule says it is so. The NFL's business interests should be delayed.

Probably until about this time next Friday afternoon.
