CALGARY, Alberta – Blake Coleman scored two goals and Dan Vladar stopped 22 shots for his third career shutout as the Calgary Flames defeated the New Jersey Devils 3-0 on Friday night, ending a four-game losing streak.

Jonathan Huberdeau also scored for Calgary.

Takeaways

Devils: New Jersey lost 6-foot-4 left wing Nathan Bastian (Jaw) late in the first period. He did not return after instigating a fight with 5-9 left wing Ryan Lomberg, who fired a barrage of left hands in a one-sided fight that came after Bastian struggled with Lomberg's heavy hit on Paul Cotter on the sideboards landed on Bastian's chin.

Flames: After scoring 24 goals in the first six games, Calgary has only scored nine goals in the last five games.

Key moment

It was scoreless after 54 minutes, but the winning goal came when defenseman Kevin Bahl, who came to the Flames as part of the deal that sent Markstrom to the Devils, fired a slap shot from the blue line that Coleman deflected forward.

Key statistics

After starting the year 5-for-15 on the power play, the Flames have failed to score on their last 20 opportunities with the extra man, a stretch that dates back to six full games and two extra periods.
