Aidan Warner came into the Gators' game in the second quarter for the injured DJ Lagway vs. Georgia.

Here's what you should know about Warner:

Florida quarterback Aidan Warner is from the Orlando area

Warner is the pride of Winter Park High School.

He was named All-State for track and field and academics at Winter Park, where he threw for a total of 1,659 yards, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions. He won three district championships as QB for the Wildcats, where he went 10-2 and reached the Class 4M-Region 1 semifinals in 2022 – his senior season.

Warner began his college career at Yale

Warner played for the Bulldogs in his first year in New Haven.

He chose Yale over offers from UConn, Coastal Carolina, FAU and others. 247 Sports rated him as a 3-star QB. He was the 133rd QB in the class of 2023 and the 312th recruit in Florida.

He redshirted the 2023 season and did not see any action before deciding to transfer to Florida.

He went on the Florida football team

Warner joined the Gators as a backup in the spring and steadily climbed the depth charts.

He didn't play in the spring game, but he began the season as the third-ranked QB behind Graham Mertz and Lagway.

He has played two games this season

Warner played in both games Lagway started.

Against Samford, he had a nine-yard touchdown rush and completed a pass for 10 yards.

He came into the game late against Kentucky and scored on his only attempt, a 20-yarder.

Just before halftime, Florida leads Georgia 10-6.

Billy Napier praises Warner

Florida's head coach was asked about Warner in his halftime interview with ESPN's Holly Rowe.

Napier praised Warner and said he earned the backup quarterback position.

“He had some good practices and he earned it,” Napier said.

Warner took a 2-4 lead for eight yards and led Florida with a field goal drive just before halftime.

Trey Smack's 53-yard FG gave the Gators a 13-6 halftime lead over Georgia.
