Forgive me if you haven't noticed, but Matthew Boyd hits like an ace.

The veteran southpaw has been a revelation for the Guardians since returning to the mound following Tommy John surgery last June.

Boyd entered the season with a career ERA of 4.94 and has been dominant in eight regular-season starts since making his debut for Cleveland on August 13, with a 2.72 ERA and a 3.29 FIP.

He carried that success into the postseason, throwing 4 ⅔ scoreless innings with five strikeouts against the Tigers, his former team, in Game 2 of that series.

Boyd faces Detroit again on Saturday, and the oddsmakers appear to be underestimating his abilities.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Boyd's strikeout over/under is just 3.5, which he has exceeded in all but one of his nine starts this season, including his appearance in Game 2 against the Tigers.

Even though they had an off day on Friday, Cleveland's bullpen enters this game a little stretched – no Guardians starter has lasted past the fifth inning in this series.

But even if the Guardians turn this game into a bullpen game early, Boyd has shown he can get the punchouts quickly, striking out 10.4 batters per nine innings in the regular season.

The Tigers have been one of the most strikeout-prone teams in baseball this season (24.3 percent strikeout rate, eighth highest rate) and have been even more so in the postseason (29 percent).

Boyd doesn't have to go deep to reach the over at that number in this game.

The piece: Matthew Boyd over 3.5 strikeouts (-110, FanDuel Sportsbook)
