Alec Baldwin returns to SNL as Bret Baier in Fox News VP interview

Alec Baldwin returns to SNL as Bret Baier in Fox News VP interview

Bret Baier, who demeaned himself in his demeanor during an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris earlier this week, probably won't feel the refreshing chill Saturday Night Live very entertaining tonight. Since the Fox News host sat down with the vice president on October 16, Baier will be in the wrong.

“The pleasure is not ours,” said Maya Rudolph to Alec Baldwin, who portrayed Baier in the very funny and sharp cold open. Yes, you read that right: Alec Baldwin.

What's somewhat shocking is that this is Donald Trump playing Baldwin's first return for a long time SNL since his involuntary manslaughter trial for the fatal shooting in 2021 rust Cameraman Halyna Hutchins was fired in July of this year for suppressing evidence by New Mexico prosecutors. Before trial, he could have spent up to 18 months behind bars if found guilty of 17 counts SNL Host Baldwin was back on the Lorne Micheals run late in November 2023 after a three-year break in a very brief cameo in a sketch on the Calm app.

As Baier, tonight was a full role for him 30 Rock Star.

By calling Baldwin's Baier “Lego Man,” Rudolph's Emmy-winning Harris emphasized her toughness and online presence. “If I were inside breaking Bad “It would have been three episodes,” she quipped, before turning to a phone camera to break the fourth wall – as you can see below:

“I'm doing an interview here with an openly hostile network and Donald Trump has canceled all of his interviews,” the spokesman said SNL VP later added the ex-POTUS.

“You're very sexy when you're angry, you know that?” Baldwin's Baier told Rudolph's Veep. “Yes, I do,” the Loot star replied, getting one of the biggest laughs of the sketch from the Studio 8H audience.

Tonight marks the end of a week of terrible and frightening events in a most unusual election SNL had Beetlejuice Franchise star Michael Keaton returns to host for the fourth time – start by measuring that Five Timers jacket. Staying true to symmetry, former former presenter Billie Ellish will be the musical guest SNL also for the fourth time.

During the first month I had a fairly severe series of colds SNL's 50Th In the season so far this election year, tonight there was an exceptionally good wine cellar full of satire and saviors for the fourth episode of the current series.

In addition to Baier's interview with Harris, in which the Veep called out the real-life FNC host for constantly interrupting her and giving a false impression of Trump's fascist “enemy-in” threats over the past few weeks, Baier admitted self-pity a day later that the fake clip of the ex-POTUS was actually shown on air. Something that heated up tonight's cold open, relying on the actual interview transcript on both the FNC pratfall and Baier's questioning of Joe Biden's mental abilities.

In fact, Dana Carvey was back as the 46th POTUS for another non-sequel-filled stint.

Despite this offer, there was always the gift of Trump himself as the former Celebrity Apprentice The host oscillates between the Totalitarian 101 playbook and pure craziness. Today Trump was again in the battleground state of Pennsylvania. Unlike previous visits, the candidate repeatedly talked about the size of Arnold Palmer's genitals at his rally in the late golf legend's hometown of Latrobe in the Keystone State. “When he was showering with other pros, they came out and said, 'Oh my God.' This is incredible,” Trump told the crowd in a speech that his aides said would be the start of his closing arguments on the campaign trail.

After an Oct. 16 Univision town hall that got worse and then worse, technical difficulties caused Trump's microphone to cut out at a rally in Detroit on Oct. 18, leaving the convicted felon to spend 20 minutes simply onstage walking around as MAGA fans began leaving the venue. Even though Trump reportedly canceled CBS and NBC interviews, the self-declared exhausted candidate had time to return to his former safe space Fox & friends on Friday. Trump being Trump, his time on the couch with Steve Doocy and the other co-hosts was filled with complaints. Trump demanded that the Rupert Murdoch channel stop broadcasting negative commercials against him or bringing in mildly progressive critics until after Election Day. Then the 78-year-old Trump said the quiet thing way too loudly and bragged before the friendly Friends Hosts said he would meet with the 93-year-old Murdoch himself immediately after the on-air appearance.

But until Palmer's organs became an issue on the campaign trail, nothing last week had the comedic appeal of Trump's Oct. 14 town hall in Oaks, Pennsylvania, with sycophantic South Dakota Gov. Kristi L. Noem, where the former president died Softball pulled the plug asking if he should dance and conduct to the tunes of his MAGA playlist for 39 minutes. The extremely strange incident occurred after repeated medical emergencies occurred in the audience. Suddenly Trump announced: “Let’s just listen to music… Who the hell wants to hear questions, right?”

The chaos of October 14th made a brief appearance SNL Tonight with James Austin Johnson back in the Trump role Baldwin once held.

No wonder that last week and today in Georgia, Harris called Trump even more “unstable” than usual and mocked his exhaustion in certain interviews. No wonder Trump's team is trying these last days to persuade Nikki Haley to join him in the campaign.

After tonight for a few weeks off, SNL will no doubt have an equally rich haul from this tight and crazy race when he returns on November 2nd SNL Author John Mulaney will host for the sixth time, with chart-topper and sometimes politically refreshing wildcard Chappel Roan as musical guest.

It's not yet known whether Minnesota Vice President or Lt. Governor Tim Walz will add an SNL cameo to their wide-ranging media campaign, but there's still some time on the schedule. As for Trump, who hosted a lot of criticism from almost everyone on the show in 2015, and his running mate from Ohio, Sen. JD Vance… I'm not entirely sure SNL is really on her dance card this time.
