With Wemby coming off the worst performance of his young NBA career against the Thunder, there's nothing like facing one of the NBA's worst teams to get back into the swing of things. A slump-buster like you've read. And while some may be sick of the “Holy shit, Wemby did something crazy” blog, my hands are tied. As long as he continues to do insane shit on an NBA court and make history, I'll talk about it.

Last night saw his second career 5×5 game (which was very close to a 6×5).

Of all the things a player can do in a game, 5×5 has always been the better choice for me. Big scoring nights are fun, triple-doubles are impressive, but a 5×5? This is like seeing a unicorn in real life.

With this performance, Wemby became only the third player in NBA HISTORY with multiple 5×5 (2) in his career, alongside Hakeem (6) and Andrei Kirilenko (3). As he dug deeper, he now found himself in even rarer air

For this reason, I'm pretty confident that Wemby will end up breaking Hakeem's 5×5 record. Is it crazy to think he could add two or three more this season? I mean, it only took him five games to play his first game this year and he's only getting better defensively. Not to mention, he had a few appearances last year where he narrowly missed a 5×5 through a single steal or block, and considering how fast the game is played today and how much more possession teams have, would It won't shock me if he ends up with at least 10+.

I understand how crazy that might sound considering Hakeem is an absolute all-rounder and only finished with 6, but I think we need to start getting used to the idea that Wemby has more than half that number could have achieved Years before he even reaches his NBA prime. If he's already doing this shit, imagine Wemby at 27 years old?

I view Wemby's 5×5 as a kind of Westbrook's triple-double. For decades, no one would have believed that after the Big O another player would average a triple-double in a season, and then Russ did it three times in a row while becoming the all-time leader in triple-doubles. In a way, we had to recalibrate our brains when this feat occurred.

Well, I'm confident the same thing will happen with Wemby and 5×5 at some point. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that he'll probably give us our first game of 6×5 as well (he just needed one more at 3 p.m.) since Pop wants him to shoot all the 3s he can get
