NEW YORK CITY – A one-of-a-kind Mickey Mantle autograph reading “These Pens Suck” sold for $247,144, an unopened 1967 Topps Baseball First Series 48 cello box brought $88,711 and Shaquille O'Neal's 1993 NBA Eastern Conference All-Star Game-worn photo-matched uniform (Resolution) from his rookie season fetched $90,541 at the Leland's 2024 Fall Classic Auction, which ended October 19. The depiction of 99 Mickey Mantle signatures – and a “These Pens Suck” inscription – appear on an autograph sheet that the Yankees legend gave to a friend who owned a statue company that manufactured professional sports-licensed products in the 1980s and 1990s. Mantle had signed the box with his name 46 times, but in the 47th paragraph he improvised and wrote “These Pens Suck” instead of his signature. Mantle subsequently signed another 53 times.

The unopened 1967 Topps Baseball First Series cello box was authenticated and packaged by Baseball Card Exchange (BBCE). The box comes with BBCE film, BBCE bottom label and BBCE sticker #X1639.

Shaquille O'Neal's worn 1993 NBA All-Star Game Eastern Conference uniform from his rookie season with the Magic includes his shorts and jersey, both of which have been matched conclusively in photos. O'Neal had one of the best rookie years in NBA history, averaging 23.4 points, 13.9 rebounds and 3.5 blocks in the 1992-93 season.

Other auction highlights included Jimmie Foxx's 1932 American League Most Valuable Player Award ($97,804), a 1928 R315 Babe Ruth SGC MINT 9 ($51,598), and Nolan Ryan's incredible, one-of-a-kind, game-worn, signed Angels jersey dated April 13, 1978 ($30,168).

Also offered in the auction was a Madison Bumgarner 2014 San Francisco Giants World Series Game 7 signed game-worn, photo-matched (Resolution LOA) jersey ($68,543) and a Hank Aaron 1963-67 Atlanta Braves signed game-used bat , which may have been used for Home Run #506 ($30,949).

Other auction highlights included a Michael Jordan 1984 NBA Bulls debut ticket slip PSA EX-MT6 ($80,044), a season-worn Jerome Bettis Steelers jersey matched to a nine-game photo (24,604 $) and a Fender guitar signed by members of the Rolling Stones ($27,760).
