FORECAST

Good morning! Yesterday, San Antonio set a record with a high temperature of 97°. Even though we were one of the hottest places in the country, we weren't the hottest. That award belonged to Phoenix, who reached 113°! Today we forecast 97°. If we reach this mark, it would surpass the record of 96° set in 1996. Skies will be sunny and humidity will remain low. By the end of the work week, temperatures will drop slightly as humidity gradually increases and more clouds form.

An “Ozone Day of Action” has been declared for San Antonio. Air quality is currently not a problem, but the forecast is for slightly increased ozone levels around midday. This could bring our air quality into the “unhealthy for sensitive people” range for a short period of time.

In the tropics, an area of showers and storms in the southern Caribbean is being monitored for slow development. It probably wouldn't materialize until mid-week, if at all. Currently, the National Hurricane Center projects this area to have a 50% chance of developing over the next few days. Should development occur, a trail into the Gulf of Mexico is possible. The likelihood of an impact in Texas remains very low, but people along the Gulf Coast should monitor the situation.
