Arcane's Budget Might Be Much Higher Than You Thought (and It Shows)

We are only a few days away from that Arcane long-awaited second season coming to Netflix. Split down the middle, the first episode will arrive on November 9th and the second half will be released on November 23rd. While this second season will conclude the animated battle between siblings Jinx and Vi, Riot Games has stated in the past that they want to expand the animated edition. Now, in a new interview with Variety, a co-founder of the company has revealed how much Arcane cost and how the budget was put to good use.

For those who may not know it ArcaneThe series focuses on two towns called Piltover and Zaun. The former sits above the latter, celebrating its prosperity and working to develop new technologies. Zaun is a city struggling to survive as both Jinx and Vi have completely different approaches to life. When we last left the sisters, Jinx was attempting to express her hatred of the Piltover ruling class and had fired a missile into their boardroom, giving us one of the greatest cliffhangers in animated history. The animation itself was worth the $250 million that represented Arcane's budget.

The co-founder of Riots Games speaks

Riot Games co-founder Marc Merrill recently shared his thoughts on the company's continued push into entertainment in a recent conversation with Variety: “Our ambitions in the entertainment industry have not changed,” Merrill wrote in an email Answered questions about this article. “We never intended to work like a traditional studio with traditional schedules. Arcane is just one of many video game adaptations that premiered on Netflix. Nothing is set in stone yet as to what awaits Riot Games in the future Arcane ends. As the game as a whole continues to grow in popularity, it stands to reason that it will see serious expansions in many ways.
