Ariana Grande recreates Glinda's original dress from “The Wizard of Oz” at the “Wicked” premiere

Ariana Grande hasn't shied away from wearing pink over the last year to imitate Glinda the Good Witch in the upcoming film adaptation of Glinda the Good Witch Evil. She's worn countless dresses and more casual outfits in various shades of pink, but her latest dress may be Glinda's favorite so far.

In honor of the film's premiere on Saturday in Sydney, Australia, Grande made a full return to the original Wizard of Oz Film for inspiration. The musician and actor wore a similarly cut pink dress that was exactly similar to the dress worn by actress Billie Burke in the 1939 film. Burke played the first version of Glinda – the exact role Grande took on.

Grande's dress featured a corseted bodice decorated with swirls of rhinestones and attached puffed sleeves. The skirt fell to the floor and was shaped like a ball gown, with layers of tulle overlapping each other. For accessories, Grande wore a diamond butterfly choker and her blonde hair was slicked half up and half back.

The dress seemed to be an ode to Glinda's original dress The Wizard of Ozwhich was featured prominently during a scene with Dorothy along the yellow brick road. Burke's dress in the 1939 film was much more dramatic than the one Grande wore, but the same corset and pink color were present.

Ariana Grande has spoken openly about how much this role means to her and the care she put into preparing for the role. Her commitment to the Broadway adaptation extends beyond the clothes she wears, but also to her Instagram bio (“somewhere over the rainbow right now”) and a tattoo dedicated to Glinda/Galinda.
