As the Yellow Lake fire grows, fire officials are holding another meeting to provide an update

TABIONA, Duchesne County — As the Yellow Lake Fire grew to more than 31,000 acres Monday, firefighters held a public meeting to discuss the latest developments on the fire.

Even if there is a change in the weather during the week, Elissa LacombCalifornia Incident Management Team said current weather conditions continue to hamper efforts to contain the fire.

“We have strong winds there, very warm temperatures and dry fuels,” she said. “So the fire is spreading to a large extent. And on this southeast side the fire moves together and penetrates and burns within itself.”

The north and west forks of the Duchesne The river and Granddaddy Lakes area are mandatory Evacuation order — all residents, hunters and Recreational athletes must stay away from the area.
The small town of Hanna was told to pack its bags and be prepared to evacuate if necessary.

More than 800 people and multiple aircraft are working to contain the fire, which is 23% contained.

Fire growth is currently occurring on the northern edge — in Soapstone Basin toward Mirror Lake Highway and Iron Mine Road – although it hasn't reached these streets yet. Growth also happens Duchesne County near North Fork Road.
