ASU football at Oklahoma State is up due to the weather

The ASU football game at Oklahoma State has been postponed from 4:00 p.m. MST to 12:30 p.m. due to weather concerns, the Big 12 Conference announced Friday.

Television coverage is on FOX in Arizona and Oklahoma, with FS2 coverage available in other markets.

After the Los Angeles Dodgers ended the World Series in five games, the game's broadcast had already been changed from FS1 to FOX, leaving the evening prime-time slot open.

A flood warning is in effect in Stillwater from Saturday morning through Monday, according to the National Weather Service. Lightning is expected until Saturday evening.

“We don’t see much (rain). We can try to simulate it, but it’s different,” ASU coach Kenny Dillingham said Bickley & Marotta of Arizona Sports on Friday before the time change was announced. “How windy it is, how rainy it is, definitely has an impact on the calls in the game and the rhythm of the game, the aggressiveness of the game.

“Some people think rain makes you less aggressive. Well, sometimes the rain and wind actually make you more aggressive because if you get into a 20 mph wind on the 50, you might only gain 30 yards. It’s fourth and three, you might have to go for it.”

Dillingham added that the week's drills included wetball drills, but acknowledged that they were far from simulating thunderstorm weather.

The Cowboys' in-state rival Oklahoma had already moved up its home game against Maine from 11:30 a.m. MST to 9 a.m., saying, “Some weather models are showing a higher risk of severe weather beginning earlier in the afternoon.”
