Baltimore Ravens: Ravens are suddenly division favorites

Baltimore Ravens: Ravens are suddenly division favorites

I won't lie and say that spirits are high in Baltimore following the Orioles' 1-0 loss to the Royals in Game 1 of their Wild Card Series. Think only However, spirits are definitely high at the Ravens.

It's crazy how quickly the narrative can change (let's hang in there, O's fans).

Now Ravens fans are once again the favorites in the division and have every reason to be excited. We all thought this team would be a contender, and now it finally looks like it. These two, more than any other, were the key factors:

Baltimore ultimately stayed in the game throughout the game and benefited from the massive offseason acquisition. We've seen firsthand how scary Derrick Henry can be when he takes over a game, and this was a top-notch performance from the King.

It was so impressive that it landed Henry on Tom Brady's star list last week:

Speaking of stars: One of the best receivers of the last decade requested a trade on Tuesday:

Needless to say, Ravens Flock is thrilled:

We've already seen Baltimore linked to Adams, and the receiver recently spoke highly of the signal-caller in Charm City:

The Ravens could use another strong presence on the outside, especially one that could shut down defenders and give Jackson a real jump-ball threat. However, Las Vegas is reportedly aiming for a Bnd-Round selection and modification. Additionally, Baltimore may not be able to pay Adams' cap hit.

Ultimately I think it's unlikely.

I'm not sure what aesthetic he's talking about here, but Ian Hartitz doesn't seem to think it's particularly likely either. In fact, he thinks Pittsburgh is the most realistic fit:

Whatever happens, we all need to have more confidence in Baltimore's defense after Sunday night. The unit suffocated, continually delivered hits and put pressure on Bills QB Josh Allen.

The secondary in particular improved, and a big part of that was the play of rookie CB Nate Wiggins. We haven't seen many splash plays from Wiggins yet, but his drops will turn into interceptions over time. For now, I like to use numbers like these:

Wiggins could be the piece that completes DC Zach Orr's puzzle. At his side, however, is a man I've mentioned a few times recently: DT Travis Jones.

He didn't have any slow It's the beginning of his career per se, but Jones has upped the ante in his third season. Now he's the Ravens' next interior defensive lineman.

I was concerned about Baltimore's pass rush early in the season, and while Odafe Oweh and Kyle Van Noy have starred, much of the unit's success has come from pushing from within. Jones has previously been a stud stallion.

GM Eric DeCosta has earned his flowers for the 2022 draft class. Where do you think it is one of the Ravens' best hits of all time?

Come on, O's!
