The Detroit Tigers are at the top of the world after advancing to the ALDS.

Andy Ibáñez hit a three-run double with two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the eighth inning to give the Tigers a 5-2 victory over the Houston Astros in Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series. With the win, the Tigers advance to the ALDS to face the Cleveland Guardians.

After the game, the Tigers players celebrated their first playoff series win in 11 years, with champagne and beer showers, kicked off with a speech from manager AJ Hinch, who led his team to a win against his old ball club. Before the celebration began, Hinch dropped something that will go down as an iconic line in this team's history.

“Someone got the Tigers hot,” Hinch said as he uncorked a bottle.

The team also doused Hall of Fame shortstop and 1984 World Series MVP Alan Trammell with beer in the middle of the locker room. Trammell is a special assistant to the general manager.

Before the celebration, Hinch told reporters in Houston that Wednesday's win was the playoff moment baseball craves. He also added a message that should delight any Tigers fan who will listen.

“The mental toll of the season and putting everything together for this group, this team, and not just the satisfaction of just making the playoffs, but winning a playoff series and getting to play against a familiar team,” Hinch told reporters . “I am forever grateful to be a Detroit Tiger.”
