Biden will not attend the election night party in Harris

President Joe Biden will not attend Vice President Kamala Harris' election night party, another sign that her campaign is keeping the incumbent at arm's length.

“Tonight, the President and First Lady, along with longtime advisers and senior White House staff, will watch the election results at the White House Residence,” a White House official said Washington Examiner. “The president is regularly updated on the state of races across the country.”

Harris is hosting a wake party at her alma mater, Howard University, less than 2 miles from the boss's residence, but her boss will not be among the attendees.

The relationship between Biden and Harris appeared to be strained throughout the election. She tried to distance herself from the government by promising to “turn the tide” and chart a “new path forward.” Another slogan, “We are not going back,” further consolidates the image she wants to project as an agent of change.

Nevertheless, she still owes her status as vice president to Biden, who selected her for the office in 2020 and endorsed her as the Democratic nominee immediately after she left office.

Biden has campaigned for Harris on a limited basis this fall, an effort that has resulted in a series of awkward moments and gaffes.

The president donned a Trump hat in September and overshadowed what was supposed to be Harris' final speech last week by calling Trump supporters “trash” near the beginning.

Neither Harris nor former President Donald Trump is doing much campaigning on Tuesday. Harris will participate in radio interviews for stations in the battleground states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin before heading to the results party.

Trump will spend the day in Florida, where he resides. He said he plans to vote in person on Election Day. He will host a watch party at the Palm Beach Convention Center.

Biden did not list any events on his public schedule for Election Day.
