FARGO, N.D. – TK Marshall He returned the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown to give No. 1-ranked North Dakota State a 42-19 victory over Northern Iowa in the Missouri Valley Football Conference on Saturday, Nov. 2.

It was the ninth straight win for North Dakota State, which improved to 9-1 overall and 6-0 in the conference before a bye week. The Bison return home to face second-place Missouri State on Saturday, November 16 at 2:30 p.m.

NDSU quarterback Cam Miller completed 17 of 20 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns. He set a new school record for consecutive pass attempts without an interception with 311, surpassing the mark of 307 set by Trey Lance from 2018 to 2020.

Bison runs back CharMar Brown had his third 100-yard rushing game with 18 carries for 124 yards and a score. His 5-yard run capped a 13-play scoring drive that gave the Bison a 14-3 lead late in the first quarter.

Miller completed touchdown passes for 14 yards Bryce Lance and 15 yards to Braylon Henderson in the second quarter as the Bison jumped out to a 28-3 halftime lead. Barika Kpeenu added TD runs of 6 and 11 yards in the second half.

UNI (2-7, 0-5 MVFC) got its offense going with back-to-back shots on goal in the third quarter. Quarterback Matthew Schecklman connected with Sergio Morancy on TD passes of 31 and 9 yards, and the Panthers converted both two-point conversions to make it 35-19 with 1:52 left in the third.

NDSU responded with a seven-play, 75-yard drive capped by Kpeenu's second touchdown early in the fourth, and the Bison twice stuffed UNI at the goal line to end a 12-play drive on downs before the final ended with 5:52 of the game.

Linebackers Enock Sibomana was involved in both goal line stops for NDSU and finished the game with a team-high six tackles. NDSU Security Darius Givance and linebacker Nick Kubitz also had six tackles apiece.

The Bison, which entered the game leading the nation in turnover margin, recovered two more fumbles and had a plus-16 total on the season. NDSU had nine tackles for loss.
