Broncos beat the Las Vegas Raiders for the first time ever

Early on, it looked like the Las Vegas Raiders would keep their perfect record alive against the rival Broncos. They scored a touchdown on three plays to open the game, then scored a field goal on their second drive and moved to the five-yard line to go up big. And that's when everything collapsed.

As first and goal getter, Gardner Minshew rolled left and had two receivers in the same area. His pass was so bad that it was unclear who he threw it to. It was too high for an open Brock Bowers, high enough for him to watch it to see where it was actually going. There it landed in the waiting arms of Patrick Surtain, who caught it and sent it back 100 yards for the score.

So instead of the Raiders taking a 17-3 lead, the game was turned around and the Broncos tied the score at 10-10.

Things remained tense for most of the second quarter. But with less than a minute left, the Raiders managed to get out of the shadow of their own end zone. Bo Nix completed a 19-yard pass to Troy Franklin to put them within field goal range.

The Broncos prepared for a 59-yard field goal, but it missed wide left. But there was a flag. Janarius Robinson was stopped for leverage and the ensuing 44-yard attempt was true, giving the Broncos a 13-10 lead at halftime.

A big punt return in the third quarter moved the Broncos to midfield. Then a short pass to Lil'Jordan Humphrey went 27 yards, with the Raiders missing several tackles along the way, to put the Broncos ahead first and make the three-pointer. Three plays later they scored and took a 20-10 lead.

The Raiders' answer was another interception by Gardner Minshew on an underthrown pass to Tre Tucker down the right sideline.

The Broncos almost had a three-point lead because Troy Franklin broke wide in the end zone but dropped the deep pass.

The turnover sparked a change at QB for the Raiders. When the Raiders went back on offense, Aidan O'Connell was at QB. He couldn't find a receiver and the Raiders went for a three-pointer, giving the Broncos another chance.

They made most of their shots and drove to another touchdown, shredding the Raiders' defense play after play. Ultimately, it was a keeper from Bo Nix who reached over the line from just a few centimeters away to score the touchdown and take the lead 27:10 with just over ten minutes left.

The next pass for O'Connell went out of the hands of Brock Bowers and was intercepted. The Broncos take the short field and go for another touchdown to take a 34-10 lead.

The Broncos had not scored more than 26 points in a game this season. Even without the pick six, they exceeded those points. And their 34 straight points were the most they had scored in a tie in a decade.

Bo Nix has just one touchdown pass this coming season. He threw two and walked for a third in that game.

The Broncos' win was their first ever against the Las Vegas Raiders. Coming into the game, Las Vegas was 8-0 over the Broncos. This series is now over.

The Raiders are 2-3 this season. The Broncos improve to 3-2.
