After three recent away defeats in a row (2:5 at Real Madrid, 1:2 in Augsburg and the 0:1 cup exit after extra time on Tuesday in Wolfsburg), Dortmund is now well on its way to making amends. But the chances were weak to exploit: Maxi Beier (10th minute) heads completely clear. Then Gittens shoots RB keeper Gulacsi straight into the arms (14th).

And the receipt comes with Leipzig's first (!) shot on goal of the party: Openda dupes Can in the 16 per heel lay on Sesko, who hammers the ball dry under the roof of the goal. Kobel's replacement Meyer is still there, but can't do anything anymore.

But Dortmund in the style of a top team – shakes itself once and answers!

Gulacsi clears a shot from Gittens for a corner (29'). But then something goes wrong: Nmecha jumps higher than everyone. Beier artistically extended his header over Gulacsi and under the crossbar.

After his €28.5 million move from Hoffenheim in the summer, his first goal in his 12th competitive and 8th Bundesliga game for Dortmund. And: BVB's first goal this season after a corner – in the 52nd attempt!

And Dortmund is clearly becoming more!

In the 64th minute, Beier took courage and crossed to Guirassy from the right. And he prevails against two in the middle, giving Gulacsi no chance with his header to the far corner – the celebrated 2-1!

Strong: The last 4 of Guirassy's 5 goals this season were all opening goals. And assist provider Beier did not collect a (!) scorer point in his first 11 competitive games for Dortmund. Two today (goal and assist)!

For coach Sahin, the most important victory of his young tenure at BVB (Terzic's successor since the summer). If he went bankrupt, it would have been really uncomfortable for him and his bosses.

BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl on Sky: “Totally deserved, we fought until the end.” We were just really good today. And I think people liked it too. That has to be the standard at which we want to play in the future. We need victories to bring some calm to the whole store.”

And leader Emre Can: “This is how we want to play football.” The style was great today. Chapeau to the team.”

Before the game, BVB boss Lars Ricken (48) said about his coach: “No discussion at all.” We are absolutely convinced of the path we will take.”

And Sahin: “I feel complete trust. And that’s not just something that was said.”

Now this trust has paid off with three points!

Spicy: On the left side of the south stand, BVB supporters unfurl a banner at the start of the game. Inscription: “Exchange: VALUES FOR: CAN DEPOSIT” – a tip against former coach Jürgen Klopp (57), who had just signed as Red Bull’s new football boss?
