Black Ops 6 introduced an omni-movement system that allows you to move in all directions with ease. Whether right or left, forward or backward, you can slide or run as you wish. Kotaku believes this is both great and frustrating, depending on your level of experience.

Kotaku's Alyssa Mercante tested the new Omnimovement system during the multiplayer beta. She said: “The sixth entry in Activision's long-running sub-series is faster than ever and filled with players who have already got the all-new Omnimovement system down to a science, meaning every game is one of two ways: fun or… frustrating.”

Alyssa went on to share why she thinks the new way of moving is fun, but will come with a significant learning curve for most players. Alyssa explained: “Unfortunately, Omnimovement also means that the most annoying types of Call of Duty players thrive… If you just go with the flow you'll have a lot of fun, but if you actively try to get good at it, prepare yourself Be prepared to be frustrated in this game: almost every game is full of hyped-up teenage streamers flopping and jerking around all over the map.

Call of Duty has changed a lot over the years, and even with the new additions in Black Ops 6, there are still many ways the latest game helps the franchise return to its roots, such as through its progression system. According to a review from Inverse, Black Ops 6 is suitable for both newcomers and those who long for the days of the original Black Ops.

In a review for Inverse, Trone Dowd wrote: “Some fond but dated memories come to mind when I think about the last time I played Call of Duty multiplayer regularly. I think of great times spent in exciting games of sabotage and getting sweaty.” One-on-one conversations with friends on classic maps like Shipment and Rust. I think of my teenage friends who tried to make lobbies full of strangers laugh with celebrity impressions and things we practiced in school in a soul-crushing defeat at 2 a.m. on the weekend.”

Trone believes Black Ops 6 has something to offer both new and returning players due to its classic FPS mechanics and unique movement style. He continued: “Black Ops 6 is different. It's crying out for players old and new to give it a try, thanks to the combination of easy gunplay and new movement mechanics.”

Inverse isn't the only gaming company that believes Black Ops 6 takes Call of Duty back to its essence. gamesradar's Andrew Brown expressed a similar view on Black Ops 6's Zombies mode. He explained, “When Treyarch promised that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 would herald the return of turn-based zombies, my heart skipped a beat. It's been years since I got into Call of Duty's zombies – fittingly, the last entry I loved was the original Black Ops.

Finally, Andrew had this to say: “After jumping into Black Ops 6's Zombies mode before checking out the multiplayer or campaign, my love for this crawler-squashing series has been reignited. It feels like I climbed into one of Der Riese's teleporters and showed up in 2010. When all I could think about was my next trip to the Cinema of the Dead and the unveiling of a little-known game called Skyrim – and dear readers, I love it.”

If you're looking for a zombie experience similar to the first Black Ops games, then Black Ops 6 offers the perfect opportunity to get back into the Call all of Duty series.

The gameplay in Black Ops 6 has been widely praised, but the multiplayer is not without its flaws. According to a review from Dextero, the lack of strong cards prevents the latest edition from reaching its potential peak.

Nathan Warby shared his overall opinion on Black Ops 6 in his Dextero review. He wrote: “This year’s multiplayer offers everything fans of the series are looking for – from top-notch shooting gameplay to a simple approach to progression. While the disappointing maps hold it back from true FPS greatness, the addition of Omnimovement forgives all transgressions.”

Maps like Rewind, Skyline and Warhead offer a similar experience to classic Call of Duty, however the maps in this year's COD game aren't nearly innovative enough to make it stand out.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was initially negatively received by the media and gamers alike as it was the third futuristic COD in a row. However, looking back, Infinite Warfare revolutionized the first-person shooter in many new, fun ways, especially in the campaign.

Metro Entertainment's Patrick Dane said in his review: “Infinite Warfare was a much-maligned game in the Call of Duty pantheon. Historically, the reveal trailer became the most disliked video on YouTube when it was announced, as gamers at the time were tired of future sci-fi warfare and many wanted a return to something more historical. It also featured some of the most unpopular multiplayer games in the franchise's history.

Patrick further explains his point by stating: “However, for my money, this game's main campaign was the best in the history of the franchise.”

Infinite Warfare's unique campaign was a real success despite the dislike of the FPS's multiplayer and Patrick praised Black Ops 6 for its return to base and dialogue with the game's unique characters.
