CB Denzel Ward is questionable for Week 6

CB Denzel Ward is questionable for Week 6

The Browns announced game status for a handful of players heading into Week 6 against the Eagles.

Delpit (concussion) and Hickman (ankle) did not participate in practice all week. With two of their safeties ruled out, head coach Kevin Stefanski said they have options on how to fill out the secondary.

“Rodney McLeod Jr. and D'Anthony Bell, I feel good about those guys,” Stefanski said. “They have played a lot of football for us in recent years. But we have options.”

Chubb and Hines continue to work to get back into the game. Both returned to training for the first time on October 2nd and completed their second week of training this week. Both Chubb and Hines participated in limited practice throughout the week.

“I think (Chubb) continues to build every day,” Stefanski said. “I think he’s doing a good job on the scout team. He does a good job when he gets some reps on offense. So he just keeps building every day.”

With Pocic out with a knee injury, the Browns have C Nick Harris as an option to play at center.

“Nick is always ready to go, whether it’s in the game or he’s having a heads-up week, if you will. But he prepares like he’s going to play every snap, even if you’re a backup,” Stefanski said. “And I think that’s the only way you can prepare. But he’ll be ready to go.”

LB Mohamoud Diabate, LB Jordan Hicks, DT Maurice Hurst II and CB Denzel Ward are questionable for Sunday's game. Diabate (hip) and Hurst (ankle) were both scheduled to return to practice Wednesday and had limited participation throughout the week of practice.

Ward, who suffered a hamstring injury in Week 5 against the Commanders, did not participate in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. He returned to practice on Friday, which Stefanski said was part of the plan.

“I thought he looked like himself, but really needs to get through the next 24 to 48 hours before making a final decision there,” Stefanski said.

Hicks also took limited part in practice on Wednesday and Thursday as he battles an elbow and triceps injury. Hicks was inactive in Week 5 against the Commanders.

“Jordan is a guy that played at a very, very high level for us in these games, right in the middle of the defense, with stops and things like that,” Stefanski said. “But we have confidence if he doesn’t make it. We have confidence in all these guys.”
