Céline Dion's first new solo song in half a decade is quickly becoming a Top 40 bestseller

At the beginning of the year, Céline Dion achieved one of the most incredible comebacks in music history. The singer had separated from her love for health reasons and it looked like she would never be able to return. Then, without warning, she not only found her way back onto the stage, but also onto perhaps the biggest stage in the world.

Weeks after showing she could still sing, Dion released the song she performed that wowed audiences around the world. The superstar released “Hymne à l'amour (Live aux Jeux Olympiques de Paris 2024 / Live from the Paris 2024 Olympics),” and fans responded enthusiastically by snapping up copies of the track.

Dion's rendition of the Edith Piaf classic “Hymne à l'amour” arrived on Thursday (October 10) and is on track to become a top seller the next day. The song currently appears at number 33 on iTunes' ranking of best-selling tracks in the United States on the platform, which is often considered one of the most important when it comes to actual sales in the music industry.

The Canadian singer sang the standard during the opening ceremony of the recent Summer Olympics. She delivered an incredible version of the French classic from the top of the Eiffel Tower, making for a moment that won't soon be forgotten.

“Hymne à l'amour” marks Dion's first solo single in half a decade. The last time she shared music all by herself was in 2019. That year, she was promoting her latest album couragewhich spun off several tracks as singles.

Earlier this year, Dion returned to the charts with a new hit in several markets, although her involvement wasn't exactly “new.” “Set My Heart On Fire” was fronted by producers Majestic and Jammin Kid and cleverly utilized some of Dion’s vocals from previous hits. Parts of their performance were reused and paired with modern music, and the three musicians created something fresh and new that became a minor hit on the charts.

For a while it seemed like Dion's career as a singer was over, but thankfully that's apparently not the case. The singer herself revealed years ago that she had been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, which affected her muscles in a way that prevented her from performing. Dion released a documentary in June about her battle with the disease, which was met with rave reviews and a lot of sympathy from people who empathized with her and her struggle.
