Chappell Roan's next album will be “New Version Of Chappell”.

Now that Chappell Roan is done with live shows for the year (except for one SNL Performance) she has the time to start working on her successor in 2023 The Rise and Fall of a Midwestern Princess.

Producer and co-writer Dan Nigro narrated The New York Times that she already has five new tracks, including “The Subway,” which she performed live, and a “fun, uptempo country song” that features “a violin.” There are also “a few ballads and a mid-tempo rock song.” Nigro added: “It’s a new version of Chappell.”

But it won't be an “I'm going to write about being famous because that's all I know now” version of Chappell, as is so often the case with sophomore albums. “That wasn’t in any songs,” Nigro said. “We still write from a really fun place. We’ll see what happens.”

Nigro has also worked with Olivia Rodrigo, who formed a friendship with the “Red Wine Supernova” singer through him. “I help them if they want my opinion on how to phrase something, but it's their story to tell,” he said. “Sometimes it’s not my job to say something. Both Olivia and Chappell are in charge.” Roan added: “I think the age difference and generation difference (she's 26, he's 42) works to our advantage because Dan and I have different perspectives on music and culture . It only strengthens the world we are building.”
