Chiefs HC Andy Reid expects to see “more” from WR DeAndre Hopkins on Monday night against the Buccaneers

Overall, Hopkins played 32.4% of Kansas City's offensive snaps, ran 14 routes and caught two passes on three targets for 29 yards.

“I thought he looked good out there – he did a good job,” Reid said. “He did a good job in the running game, did a good job in the passing game, made the big third-down catch right off the bench and did well with it.”

Hopkins, 32, is now adjusting to his fourth NFL franchise after moving from a Tennessee Titans team that had just one win to the NFL's last undefeated team.

The acquisition of Hopkins, who had 15 catches for 173 yards and a touchdown in six games with Tennessee, is the Chiefs' latest attempt to improve a struggling WR corps that added Marquise Brown this offseason only to land him injured. to breathe some life and performance into the reserve, where he was joined by Rashee Rice, who emerged as a premier WR1 for the team.

Hopkins has a sparkling resume highlighted by five Pro Bowls and three All-Pro selections.

Even though his best days are likely taking a back seat, he can still give the Chiefs some much-needed juice. Last season, he memorably scored three touchdowns off Will Levis in QB's starting debut. So, with Patrick Mahomes eyeing him, there is optimism that he can improve the Chiefs' 12Th-Scored passing offense.

He will have the opportunity to do so against a shaky Buccaneers team that has suffered two straight losses and has conceded an average of 36 points in those losses. Tampa also wears the 29thTh-Rank defense allowed in passing yards.

So for many reasons, Hopkins expects to have a much bigger impact on the Chiefs in his second game.

“He’s a good football player,” Reid said. “As we move forward here, I think it will be even better to be able to fit more in.”
